2021.09.20 04:16 Wargod042 Libram Paladin in Stormwind - bringing value back to the masses

I originally posted this in the main subreddit but someone pointed out this may be appreciated here as well:
Libram Paladin has been getting a bit of attention. Devs noted it as a viable deck, and it's starting to show up on data-sites enough that there's common lists around and the possibility of refinements. So lets try refining the deck. It's position can only get stronger as Shaman and Warlock (and with them hopefully mage) are awaiting the meta gallows; the world of value awaits!
I'll open with my latest build. I churned through all of low diamond with a 14-1 win streak with this list, and obvious luck aside I'm very happy with how it was performing and I think the direction it's gone is worth exploring.
### All of the Stats
# Class: Paladin
# Format: Standard
# Year of the Gryphon
# 2x (1) Aldor Attendant
# 1x (1) Animated Broomstick
# 2x (1) Knight of Anointment
# 2x (2) Argent Braggart
# 2x (2) Crabrider
# 2x (2) Hand of A'dal
# 2x (2) Libram of Wisdom
# 1x (2) Murgur Murgurgle
# 2x (3) Alliance Bannerman
# 1x (3) Lord Barov
# 1x (4) Blademaster Samuro
# 1x (4) Cariel Roame
# 2x (5) Aldor Truthseeker
# 2x (5) Blessing of Authority
# 1x (6) Battleground Battlemaster
# 2x (6) Devout Pupil
# 1x (7) Lady Liadrin
# 1x (8) Varian, King of Stormwind
# 2x (9) Libram of Hope
This list diverges from the one Vicious Syndicate grabbed (props to their source for bringing back in Devout Pupils) in a few key ways. They noted weakness in the Pandaren Explorer basically being a filler, and also that the Librams of Judgement and Justice were underperforming (or at least marked those as slots to swap out). I definitely can see how Libram of Justice is questionable, as it really doesn't start turning on until you've got 2+ discount so it can feel really clunky at defending you. Libram of Justice on the chopping block kind of undercuts the idea that City Tax combos are critical too, in my opinion; I really love the board-wipe combos but it seems to me that Paladin has often benefited from a stronger focus on beef. Finally I am utterly convinced that it's insane to omit Battlegrounds Battlemaster as at least a 1-of; at least in this list with a higher density of fat stats.
The Core:
Libram minions, Wisdom, and Hope, Hand of A'dal and Knight of Anointment - hard to argue with any of these. Knight you could say is too random but he's a 1-drop that replaces himself and that's good enough.
The Good Stuff:
Blademaster Samuro, Cariel Roame, Alliance Bannerman, and Lord Barov - These cards are just way too good to cut and most speak for themselves. Lord Barov I think is still absolutely worth without City Tax; against aggro he's still an OK speedbump on curve if you're desperate, and between Crabriders and existing boards I've nearly always found him useful.
Sweet, sweet value:
Varian and Liadrin - I used to question Varian and instead ran Taelan to tutor Liadrin/Prime, but in this list with less removal you often have an opposing fat minion you want to slam him into. Liadrin is something I've seen people try cutting and I think she still is worth the slot. The meta is only going to slow down more and Liadrin is really what ensure that Paladin will always have the must stuff in the end.
The Beef:
Devout Pupil, Blessing of Authority, and Argent Braggart - Hearthstone is all about cheating. Everyone else is doing cheaty non-sense with discounts and free giants and combos. Paladins cheat by being too big. All of the big. Devout Pupil helps keep up midgame pressure and is a pretty decent defensive roadblock, even if he's not heavily discounted, and only improves with discounts. I personally have suspected for a while that Blessing of Authority is currently the nuts because no one runs hard removal, the only silence is from opponents that very much will not be happy actually playing it defensively, and stacking 8/8 on top of a minion is very scary for pretty much every opponent. Argent Braggart is disgusting; paying 2 mana for a clone of the best minion, whether that's a 4/5 or an 8/8 or a 16/16, is nonsense and this guy is a big help in ensuring there's not enough removal in their entire deck to keep up with you. Don't forget if you're behind against aggro he still often adds up to a Spider Tank at worst.
The Fish:
Murgur Murgurgle and Crabriders - Murgur is a weird minion nowadays. Sometimes it's super fantastic to have a shielded minibot, sometimes the Prime wins the game, and sometimes you look at him and wonder if pressing the button would have got the job done this game. He's still probably good enough as your only on-curve 2-drop really, but I've legitimately considered tossing him in a mulligan when I already had an Aldor Attendant and Bannerman; maybe I'm just dumb though.
Crabriders, though. Crabriders are why cutting all that removal works. The fill every role I think was needed in the slot. They function as miniature Samuros, making all your smaller buffs more likely to find early game value. They help you keep control of early game boards against all sorts of opponents. They are passable activators for Lord Barov. They keep Varian from missing rush if you're super unlucky. Oh, and on turn 7 with Blessing of Authority they are an absolute nuclear bomb in terms of board control. All that, and they have a really big butt for a 2-drop; when you absolutely positively have to stick a minion they're not too shabby.
The Battleground Battlemaster:
Yup - I am utterly baffled that this card is not in every Libram Paladin list. Going all the way back before Pen Flinger, the big thing these Libram Paladin decks keep needing was a way to close games. The current meta more than ever demands that you kill Quest decks before they complete their Infinity Gauntlet and snap you out of existence; Don't be Thor... Aim For The Head. This build in particular, with Braggarts and Blessing of Authority is constantly threatening big stats; nothing short of the most disgusting Warlock turns will be able to consistently clear your board. That 14-1 streak I took to legend? There were THREE Mages in there, and that one loss was to a Face Hunter (Irony). The Final Boss was a Mage with Double Incanters Flow on curve. This card is how you make up all that damage the Warlock healed away, and how you outrace the fatigue damage. Your quest is for Ultimate Value, and the reward is getting to delete the Quest decks first.
Libram Paladin is well positioned for the anticipated changes, it's (in my opinion) the least boring option in a class that is theoretically pretty cool. You get to play big stuff, you get to be tough, you get to heal and smash faces and sometimes pull off a miracle against all those cheaty cheaters out there with their cool toys and their quests that don't suck. The deck deserves attention and I think with refinement it could be back on top making everyone complain that Paladin is constantly the best and that it's totally unfair for the class to be so good yet so fair!
So post ideas. Alternative builds. Spicier 2-drops. Studlier endgames. Play some games so that ZachO can amass more data before/after the patch. Post your results with builds.

2021.09.20 04:16 MurasakinoZise Career for someone with major trust issues (doesn't have to be remote)

Tldr; UK Econ student looking for something that makes sense regarding progression without having to deal with people. Going into final year and grad scheme applications.
I'm mostly looking for suggestions as to where I can take an economics degree that involves as little human interaction as possible. I had coding ruined for me when I was younger by a shitty teacher but I'm open to learning if someone has experience of getting into it on the side. So that temporarily rules out a good number of roles for the foreseeable.
Accounting seems like a plausible avenue but it's a pretty broad field. Audit, tax, etc. If anyone has experience of this I'm open to suggestions as I'm unaware of the nuances. Bonus points if the natural progression of the role doesn't mean managing and training your replacement.
Remote would make sense but I don't think I'd learn the job well initially, regardless of the job itself. So at least to start with I'd prefer something in person.
Anything else that seems appropriate would be appreciated.

2021.09.20 04:16 Emper0rRaccoon Imo the flow of invading is too slow

When I invade it usually starts with a minute of waiting to find a match and then five to ten minutes of camping until colt reveals himself. Then I can finally enjoy a minute or two of combat (if I don't get instantly sniped by someone with thirty more hours than me). And after I win or die (usually die) I have to do the whole process of waiting again just for a couple more minutes of gameplay. Now I admit that the wait time gets severely decreased if colt sucks or if he kills me instantly from the get go but the majority times it's like five minutes of waiting for the fun part.
If I could just instantly be put back into matchmaking after I complete a game instead of having to go through the annoying end screen and unlocks menu, I think it would help the flow of invading.

2021.09.20 04:16 -softly twin sister being immature

i honestly never go on this subreddit, but i feel like i needed to this time because i feel like nobody would understand this situation even if i try to explain it and would tell me to suck it up, but let me tell you it's been like this for years and nothing has changed. i am sick and tired of being told "fuck you" and "you don't care" by my sister because of this lol. my twin is obviously the same age as me and it shocks me that she still acts like this even though we are both adults. we live in the same house and if she's hungry she will do anything to make it known that she is- something that a toddler would do. examples of this would be her texting me that she is hungry or two, barge into my room to tell me. when i tell her to go eat, she just says fuck you or you don't care. she wants me to always go downstairs with her, even if i am not hungry and don't plan on eating. sometimes i go and end up eating and whenever i dont is when she basically throws it all out on me and tries to put the responsibility on me for not "caring". i'm really sick of being told i don't care when we literally eat at different times during the day. she'll wake up later than me so of course i'll eat earlier. i don't know, it's like she hasn't grown out of that.

2021.09.20 04:16 alxndrthagreat Making all new contributions to Roth 401k

Hey all, occasional lurker here and curious to hear from the investing community. I started a new job and their 401k platform (Fidelity) is much friendlier in fees compared to my previous firm’s. They also offer a Roth 401k account! However they don’t match contributions per paycheck but do it towards the end of every year - historically they’ve matched 100% up to 4% of contributions.
I typically put in $1500 every month investing in high returning/low fee ETFs starting the year off by maximizing my Roth IRA, HSA then contribute to my regular taxable brokerage account. Now with access to funds on the 401k that I normally invest into on my Roth/HSA/brokerage accounts, would you - in my shoes - continue to invest in a regular brokerage account when I can take advantage of a Roth 401k during my time here?
Love to hear all of your insights!
TL;DR: started at new firm that offers access to my regular lineup of ETFs in their 401k/Roth 401k. Should I bother investing in regular taxable brokerage account?
